HEAD COACH
TITLE: Head Coach
REPORTS TO: Activity Director, Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be determined by Administration and Board of Trustees
JOB SUMMARY:
To instruct all students in the fundamental skills and knowledge of the sport or activity. To provide an atmosphere for successful individual development through monitoring, evaluating, and reinforcing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries course.
- Have fundamental knowledge of the sport.
- Ability to select from a variety of instruction methods to teach activity objectives.
- Possess all certificates required for the State of Wyoming
- Possess current CPR certification.
- Possess current First Aid certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to develop drill and practice activities that teach and enhance individual/team skill development that makes up the game.
- Develop and maintain an inventory list of equipment.
- Prepares and implements a schedule of checking out, maintaining, and checking in equipment.
- Ability to plan and enforce appropriate safety and health rules and regulations.
- Ability to develop a supervision plan that ensures the safety and welfare of students at all times: locker room, trips, practices, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality about students and others.
- Presents a professional appearance.
- Ability to be an effective communicator with all audiences - players, parents, supervisors, peers and spectators.
- Ability to receive, understand and follow directions.
- Be able to model/demonstrate activities and equipment used to develop basic skills or physical condition.
- Ability to observe, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate remediation activities during practice and game conditions for players and team.
- Must know and be able to apply the developmental stages of each point of the game to the needs and ability levels of the team/players.
- Assimilate innovations and adapt to changes when applicable.
- Establish fundamental philosophy for activity or sport.
- Instruct assistants in techniques necessary to meet philosophy objectives.
- Analyze and evaluate sports effectiveness.
- Responsible for providing training rules and expectations and seeing that rules are taught to each participant.
- Assist in the scheduling of the activity or sport.
- Responsible for documenting the state and district's requirements for physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
- Be involved in the hiring of assistant coaches directly under your supervision and indirectly through input at other levels.
- To develop and follow a budget in line with district's guidelines and expectations.
- Take responsibility for public relations with all audiences.
- Manage through appropriate selection, assigning duties and responsibilities, and monitoring of assistants.
- Support the philosophies of Fremont County School Dist 24 activities.
- May be responsible for supervising students on out-of-town activities. This may involve staying overnight.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy or as determined by the Superintendent at the direction of the Board. |
