TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be determined by Administration and the Board of Trustees
JOB SUMMARY: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Any alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Possession of a valid Class C Wyoming driver’s license.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep building and premises--including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas--neat and clean at all times.
- Shovel, plow, and sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as needed.
- Sweep classrooms daily; and dust furniture, including blinds, when needed.
- Clean corridors after school each day; and, during the day when conditions require.
- Clean and disinfect desks, tables, toilets, and floors daily; and, clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
- Wash all windows, both inside and out, as often as may be necessary and weather permits.
- Keep the grounds free of rubbish.
- Perform grounds-keeping chores such as grass-cutting, tree-trimming, and flowerbed-tending to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
- Clean all chalkboards/whiteboards daily.
- Report the need for major repairs, damage, or unsafe conditions promptly to the Director of Custodial /Maintenance.
- Remain on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized, and his/her attendance is required by his/her supervisor.
- Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day; and, for determining before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured; and, all lights except those left on for security reasons, are turned off.
- Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities; and, as directed by administration.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of supplies, trash, rubbish, and waste.
- Help, as needed and necessary, at special events and activities.
- Maintain custodial equipment and materials.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Perform general maintenance duties as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
DEMANDS OF THE JOB:
- Ability to use a pickup truck, tractor, computer, two-way radio, cell phone, lawn mower, vacuum cleaner, snow shovel, hand truck, and similar equipment.
- Lower body strength to stand/walk throughout the workday.
- Upper body strength to lift 85 pounds and carry that weight 100 feet.
- Balance strong enough to climb various ladders and scaffolding somewhat frequently.
- Tolerance of moderate exposure to weather extremes from -40 degrees to + 110 degrees F.
- Tolerance of frequent exposure to various airborne particles of sawdust, insulation, abrasives, and common dust.
- Tolerance of exposure to various supplies containing hazardous materials or chemicals.
- Tolerance of exposure to bloodborne pathogens or potentially infectious materials.
- On-call availability for minor and major emergencies.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of support staff. |
